Christmas Hamper Appeal

For many, Christmas can be a very isolating and challenging time of year. Each year, Destiny Angels partner with organisations across Edinburgh to give out hampers of food and gifts to people in need—to show that people care and to help make Christmas possible. And YOU can be involved!

How to help:

Donate a hamper

Make up your own hamper, either individually or with friends, colleagues or your Small Group. This is the most cost and time-effective way for us to reach our hamper target—and it’s loads of fun! Please click "Donate a hamper" below so that we can allocate you a specific hamper to make up (e.g. age, gender, size of family, referral organisation etc).

Once we’ve matched you with a hamper recipient, we’ll be in touch with further details of age and gender, but in the meantime, click here to find out more about what to include in your hamper and how to pack your box of love.

In the past, we’ve been very grateful to those who have donated financially to our appeal or bought in food contributions, but this year our focus is on members of the church and wider community donating physical whole hampers. The more complete hampers come in, the more we can impact the organisations we work with!

It’s also a great opportunity for schools, organisations and corporate groups to get involved. Why not get together with some friends or colleagues to put together your own hampers to donate to our appeal?

This year, we’re delighted to be partnering with the following organisations and the great work they do across the Capital and beyond:

Y People, Vocal, Citadel, The Welcoming, South West Community Mental Health Team, Pilton Youth and Children’s Project, Pilton Community Health Project, Safe Families for Children, Women’s Aid East and Midlothian, Beeslack Family Disabled Club

These organisations will distribute our hampers to some of the most vulnerable families and individuals they work with, who have no one else to turn to at Christmas. Thank you so much for helping us make Christmas special for those in greatest need across Edinburgh and the Lothians.

Deadline for hampers to be returned: Sunday 1st December

Feedback from Edinburgh Organisations

Each hamper makes a huge difference to the individuals and families our partners work with as the feedback below highlights:

We work with clients with significant mental health problems living in the community, many of whom are very socially isolated and struggle to leave their homes. Many have little to look forward to in life and no Christmas plans, with Christmas being a difficult time of year for them. All our clients have been extremely grateful for the hampers. One stated that it had made their Christmas. Another said they would have had nothing to eat over the Christmas period without the hamper.

The hampers you provide make a huge difference to the individuals we work with. It is often the case that this will be one of the few gifts that they will receive, bringing some much needed kindness, generosity and a reminder that there are still many good people in the world.

We as an organisation are extremely grateful for the hard work and dedication that must go into the enormous undertaking. You have our gratitude and admiration.
