Destiny Street Impact

Destiny Street Impact (DSI) aims to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to help reduce the immediate, damaging effects of homelessness. Throughout the week, teams of volunteers take out rucksacks filled with hot drinks, food and warm clothing to offer a listening ear to anyone on the streets of Edinburgh. The signature DSI hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream have become a firm favourite with many!

“Those bags of hope, shone God’s light into my darkness.
(Former DSI service user)

The DSI teams also work with other organisations, signposting people affected by homelessness to voluntary and public sector agencies who can provide support in the areas of housing, addiction, benefits and family mediation.

The complicated issues surrounding homelessness mean it is neither a simple nor easy task to leave homelessness behind. The DSI teams aim to provide a constant and reliable presence on the street so that strong relationships are developed and when people are ready to move on they have someone they can trust to provide them with support. For those that want it, the DSI team is at hand to pray and provide spiritual support.

“Never underestimate the power of prayer on the pavement!”
(DSI service user)

The DSI team currently go out on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening, and Saturday during the day time. We are always looking for new volunteers and Small Groups to join the team, so please get in touch if you are interested.
